On June 28, 1914, two shots led to a chain of events that changed the world FOREVER. Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria and his wife were assassinated while being driven through Sarajevo. The point of the assassination? The Archduke was heir to the Austro-Hungarian Empire and was perceived as a threat to Serbian independence. His assassination led to the July Crisis, which, in turn, led to Austria-Hungary declaring war on Serbia. It was the spark that set off World War I – the Great War that we so passionately write about.
