Ground-breaking shows establish Sabaton in Japan

Sabaton can now confidently say that they are “big in Japan”, after blowing away audiences with their live shows supporting one of the country’s biggest superstars.

The three-date Dark Night Carnival tour with Japanese sensations Babymetal saw Sabaton playing to huge arena crowds in Kobe and the capital Tokyo.

And the shows quickly established the band as a major talking point in the country, leading to #Sabaton becoming the number two trending topic on Twitter – Japan’s most-loved social network.

Frontman Joakim Brodén said: “We know we can always expect a warm welcome in Japan, and we had an idea that people who listen to Babymetal would enjoy Sabaton, but we could never have been prepared for the scale of the response we got from Japanese metal fans.

“Of course this wasn’t our first time in Japan, but they were the biggest shows we’ve ever played there, so we went out all guns blazing and everything came together perfectly.

“Looking at the number of requests we’ve already had on Twitter, we definitely need to think about including Japan in our next headline tour!”
