On Christmas Eve of 1914, soldiers of opposing armies on the Western Front put down their weapons for a short while and came together as fellow human beings instead of enemies. They socialised, played games, sang Christmas carols and even exchanged small gifts. Although it didn’t last long, it meant the world to these men.
This was an absolute act of trust and a rare, magical moment of peace during times of war.
